Emotecraft
by KosmX
Players who want custom animations can use Emotecraft, a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod that lets them create and play their own emotes.
What it does
Emotecraft lets players create their own emotes and play them in game. The client needs the mod to show emotes, while the server can run it for extra features. Vanilla servers remain reachable without it, though emotes do not work there unless the server runs the mod or the online-emotes addon is used on the server side.
The mod depends on Fabric API, Player Animation Library and playerAnimator on the loaders that require them, and playerAnimator is bundled inside the mod. Bendable Cuboids, Searchables and bendy-lib are optional. Emotecraft is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and is open source. Files cover 1.16.5 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are published as well.
Eleven catalog mods require Emotecraft, among them Online Emotes and EmoteTweaks, so the mod also works as a base for emote addons. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 26.3, and the latest Forge file targets 1.20.1.
Key features
Custom emote creation
Players can author their own emotes and then play them back with the mod installed.
Emote playback
Created emotes and emotes from other sources can be played on the player model, with the animation shown to others on the server.
Paper server build
A Paper build is listed on Hangar for servers that run that platform, and it plays emotes without a mod loader.
Installation on both sides
The mod must be installed on the client, and installing it on the server as well adds server-side features.

How it compares
Pop-up Emotes is the only alternative that runs on both the client and server, with files for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.19.2 – 26.3, but it is not open source. PlayerEmotes is a server-required mod with files for 1.20 – 1.21.4 whose client part is optional, and it is not open source either. EmoteSounds is a Fabric client-side only mod for 26.2, released under the MIT License.

🚫 Do NOT download from unofficial sources! 🚀 You can still connect to vanilla servers - the mod just won’t be active. You can also use online-emotes to play emotes on vanilla servers!
