Elytra Tweaks

Elytra Tweaks is a Fabric client mod that automatically swaps the elytra and chestplate worn by a player, based on flight state and held items.
What it does
When the player starts gliding or lands, the mod can equip the elytra or put the chestplate back on, and it can replace a broken elytra with a new one. A warning appears when the elytra's durability drops low. Since the 1.21 update, the mod can also swap to a chestplate while the player holds a mace.
The mod ships with its own configuration, so each part of the swapping can be turned off separately. A configurable option disables the mod during PvP. Elytra Tweaks needs Fabric API. Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are optional, and they add a settings screen. The mod is client-side only, so servers do not need it, and it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, as open source.
The 1.1.2 build targets 1.20 – 1.21.4, with twelve release versions covered and 1.1.2-server+1.21.4-fabric as the latest Fabric file, published on 2025-03-10.
Key features
Automatic elytra equipping
The elytra is put on automatically when the player begins to fly, so no manual slot change is needed.
Mace-triggered chestplate swap
While a mace is held, the chestplate takes the place of the elytra, and the elytra returns when the mace is put away.
Broken elytra replacement
A broken elytra is swapped for a new one from the inventory, so flight can continue without stopping.
Low durability warning
A warning is shown when the elytra's durability becomes low, giving time to repair or replace it.
Elytra texture renaming
An elytra texture can be renamed with an anvil, which changes its appearance in game.
