Echo Wireless Redstone

by okdashi

Echo Wireless Redstone lets players send a redstone signal across distance using echo horns that carry a unique frequency ID, with receivers and emitters that only respond to matching IDs.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCustom license1.21.4 – 26.1

What it does

Crafting an echo horn assigns it a frequency ID, and only emitters and receivers that share that ID interact. Holding shift while using an echo horn, or shift right-clicking an emitter or receiver, checks or links the frequency. Repeaters are required in the setup, and receivers, emitters and repeaters are placed as in ordinary redstone builds.

The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack for servers, with files for 1.21.4 – 26.1. Because the frequency space holds over two billion IDs, collisions are very unlikely, even on multiplayer servers. An earlier release had a bug that limited use to roughly 128 channels, and that limit has since been fixed. Server owners should read the usage guidelines and the video overview before deploying it in a modpack.

Installation is required on the server; players may add it on the client. The license is a custom one and the code is not open source. Updating from an older data pack version runs the update function on receivers and emitters in unloaded areas, possibly more than once.

Key features

  1. Sculk-powered wireless redstone

Signals travel between components without cables, powered by sculk-themed echo horns.

  2. Unique frequency IDs

Each crafted echo horn receives its own ID, and only components sharing that ID interact.

  3. Frequency check and linking

Shift-using an echo horn or a receiver lets the player check or link the frequency of a component.

  4. Large ID space

Over two billion frequency slots keep conflicts rare, even among many players on one server.

  5. Datapack with performance notes

The datapack adds ticking functions that check blocks, and tick rate drops were observed past 1,500 receivers and emitters.

Wireless Redstone Signals is open source under the MIT License, client and server, with Fabric files for 1.21.4 – 26.3. Wireless Redstone Lite is also open source under the MIT License, client and server, for Fabric and NeoForge on 26.1 – 26.3. Melon Wireless Redstone is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and covers 1.19 – 1.20.4 on Fabric, Forge and Quilt, so it does not match this mod's version range.

Questions

Which loaders are supported?

Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt are supported, with a data pack option for servers. All current files are for 1.5+mod for 26.1.

Can two players' wireless networks interfere with each other?

Only components with the same frequency ID interact, and the ID space is large enough that conflicts are very unlikely.
