Cursed Breeding

by drbaum

Cursed Breeding adds a breeding mechanic that produces cursed offspring carrying parts of the parent mobs, and it works on Wither Skeletons and Magma Cubes.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 26.2

What it does

Special breeding items, used on supported mobs, create cursed offspring that inherit body parts from their parents. Vanilla breeding stays unchanged, so ordinary breeding works as before. A player who consumes the matching item receives a temporary breeding effect, and a nearby compatible mob approaches once the cursed offspring is created. Required items are consumed only when the hunger bar is full, and pink hearts show when a cursed breeding effect is active.

The mod runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the server and every player need it. Fabric installs also require Fabric API. Files are published for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 1.21.11 and 26.2, with 1.2 for 26.2 as the latest build, and the mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Cursed offspring

Supported mobs bred with special items produce offspring that carry mixed parts of their parents.

  2. Vanilla breeding kept

Normal breeding and its results are left as they are, so both systems exist side by side in a world.

  3. Two player egg

Two players can combine their skins by using an egg, producing a small child whose head comes from one parent and whose body from the other.

  4. Spawn commands

With command permissions, the cursedbreeding commands spawn cursed mobs for a player, with the option to skip the player's own face and add a name.

Questions

Does Cursed Breeding need Fabric API?

Only on Fabric. The Fabric build requires Fabric API, while the Forge and NeoForge builds do not.

Must the server have Cursed Breeding installed?

Yes. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Are the cursed offspring kept after a world reload?

Yes. Once grown, the offspring retain their unusual look, and that look survives a reload of the world.

What the author says

Cursed Breeding adds a strange new breeding mechanic to Minecraft. Use special items to breed with supported mobs and create cursed offspring that inherit parts of your skin. The offspring keep their special appearance after growing up and after the world is reloaded. Normal vanilla breeding remains unchanged.
