Complete Bone Meal
Complete Bone Meal extends bone meal so it can grow many more plants, including chorus flowers, coral, dead bushes, lily pads, nether wart and sugar cane.
What it does
Bone meal normally works only on a fixed set of crops in vanilla Minecraft. This Fabric mod makes a much wider set of growable plants respond to it, and each group can be switched off on its own through the mod config, so a server owner can keep the behavior for some plants and drop it for others.
The mod runs on the server alone, so players connecting to a server running it need nothing installed. It requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, and Mod Menu is optional for opening the config screen in game. The project is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. Files target the 1.19 – 1.20.4 range, with the latest Fabric file, 2.1.2, built for 1.20.4 and published on 2024-04-14.
Key features
Bone meal on more plants
Plants such as chorus flowers, coral blocks, coral fans and hanging roots respond to bone meal like crops do.
Aquatic and nether growables
Lily pads, coral wall fans, nether wart and sugar cane join the list of bone meal targets.
Tall plants and spore blossoms
Tall plants and spore blossoms can be grown with bone meal, and dead bushes are included in the set.
Per-plant config toggles
The config file has a switch for each growable group, so individual plants can be enabled or disabled.

How it compares
Universal Bone Meal is a Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mod, open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, built for 1.18.2 – 26.3, and it has to be on both client and server. Bone Meal Sugar Cane is Fabric only, open source under the MIT License, built for 1.21 – 1.21.11, and it is server required with an optional client. Complete Bone Meal stays on the server side alone and covers a wider set of plants, but only for 1.19 – 1.20.4.
