Command Macros
by kyrptonaught
Command Macros binds commands to keys, so a single press types or runs a command the player has saved, and the bindings take effect without a restart.
What it does
A macro is made by choosing a command and the key that triggers it. Several macros can share one key, so a single press runs several commands at once. Edits to a macro apply immediately, and the game does not need to be relaunched after a change.
Each macro can use one of several run modes: a delay between the key press and the command, repeated execution while the key is held, a toggle that keeps the command repeating after one press, a fixed number of runs with a configurable gap between them, a single run per press, or a display-only mode that opens the chat screen with the command typed in but not sent. The mod runs on the client, so only the player who installs it needs it, and it is published for Fabric alone.
Command Macros is open source under the MIT License. Files cover 1.19.1 – 1.20.4, and the latest Fabric file, 1.6.3-1.20.4, targets 1.20.4 and was released on 2024-03-11. It has no required dependencies, so Fabric API is not listed as needed.
Key features
Keybinds for commands
Any command can be attached to a key, and the binding is created by naming the command and the key.
Stacked macros on one key
A key can carry several macros, so one press sends several commands in a row.
Delayed execution
A macro can wait a configurable time between the key press and the moment the command runs.
Repeat and toggle modes
Repeating macros run while the key is held, and toggled repeating macros keep running after one press.
Run N times
A macro can run a set number of times per press, with a configurable delay between runs.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Repeated commands
A player who types the same command often can bind it to a key and skip retyping it.
Chat command editing
The display-only mode puts a command into the chat screen so the player can change it before sending.
Who it’s for: Players who run commands often in single-player or on servers where they have operator access, and who want quicker access to them.
How it compares
Movement Macros is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and published for 1.20.4, so it covers a single version where Command Macros covers eight. Command Keys is client-side only, open source under the Apache License 2.0, and spans Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.19.3 – 26.3. SmartChat Macros is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21 – 26.1.2 and no overlap with Command Macros' version range.
