Comfortable Campfires
by Cassian
Comfortable Campfires gives nearby players Regeneration whenever a lit campfire is nearby, or a configured effect instead.
What it does
Lit campfires grant an effect to players standing close to them. By default that effect is Regeneration, and the server owner can choose a different one. Since version 2.0, any block can grant an effect: a line under effects in the config pairs a block identifier with an effect name, such as lava granting wither. If the chosen effect does not exist, for example because the mod that supplies it is not loaded, Regeneration is used instead.
Prior to 2.0, the default effect was the Comfort effect from Farmer's Delight, which is optional. Cloth Config API, QoMC and the deprecated Farmer's Delight Fabric build are also optional, and QoMC lets server owners set the effects with an in-game command. On Fabric, Fabric API is required. The mod runs on the server only, so players join without installing it, and the same jar can be added to a single-player world to use it there.
The source code and issue tracker are public. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 29 release versions, 1.19 – 26.3, with snapshot builds included.
Key features
Campfire regeneration
Players near a lit campfire receive Regeneration by default, with no extra items or actions needed.
Configurable effects
The config file maps campfires or other blocks to a chosen effect, so the effect can change without code.
Any block grants effects
Since 2.0, a block identifier in the config can grant an effect, not only the campfire.
Command-based setup
With QoMC installed, effects can be set in game with a comfortable campfires config command.

Use cases
Survival servers
Server owners can give players a healing effect near camps without a separate command or script.
Modpack replacement
The mod can replace a campfire healing script that did not work on servers, giving modpacks the same behaviour server-side.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want campfires to affect nearby players, and modpack authors who need a server-side version of a campfire healing behaviour.
How it compares
Lit on fire is a Forge and NeoForge mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.4 that runs on client and server and is open source under the MIT License. Nice Sitting Players is server-side too, with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt files for 1.21.2 – 1.21.5 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and it is open source. Campfire Enchanting is also server-side, for 1.21.2 – 1.21.11 on the same four loaders, but it is not open source and uses the Mozilla Public License 2.0.

What the author says
Sitting by the campfire is now just a little more comfortable. Lit campfires now give nearby players Regeneration or a configured effect. Since 2.0, Comfortable Campfires can also be used to allow any block to grant effects. Just add a new line under effects in the config e.g. "minecraft:lava" = "wither". With QoMC…
