come-back-my-villagers
by zly2006
Come Back Villagers changes how villagers cure, trade and take part in raids on Fabric and Quilt servers, restoring earlier behavior from before the rebalance.
What it does
The mod modifies villager mechanics that predate the trading rebalance, including trading and raids. Curing the same villager more than once can lower the price of its trades, so repeated cures become a route to cheaper goods. A villager that has been cured can be brought back into the village through the come back cure option.
Raids follow the older rules. Raid omens are removed, and a raid can start when a player has the bad omen effect, which lets earlier raid farms work again. Witches in raids use the loot table from 1.20, which avoids an excess of redstone drops. The witch raider drop is also restored, and the mod removes Mojang's village trading rebalance introduced in snapshot 23w31a.
Only the server needs it, and players join without installing anything. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt across five release versions, 1.20.2 – 1.21.1, with 1.2+1.21 for 1.21.1 as the latest Fabric file. Snapshot builds are published, and the code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, with the source code publicly available.
Key features
Older trading behavior
Villager trading mechanics from before the rebalance are brought back.
Cheaper trades after repeat cures
Curing the same villager several times lowers the price of its trades.
Raids start from bad omen
A raid can begin when a player has the bad omen effect, so older raid farms function.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
This mod also publishes snapshot builds. Snapshots are not shown in the matrix.
Use cases
Raid farms
Farms built around the bad omen trigger and the older raid rules can run again without a raid omen.
Trading servers
Server owners who prefer the earlier villager economy can keep it instead of the 23w31a rebalance.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want the older villager trading and raid rules, and players who build raid farms. Clients do not need the mod.
