CombatEdit
by rizecookey
CombatEdit changes entity and item defaults on the server so that combat can follow an older style of play, and it is open source under the Apache License 2.0.
What it does
Combat behavior is set through profiles. A built-in combat profile applies entity and item attributes that reproduce an older combat style, while the Vanilla profile leaves the default entity and item attributes untouched. Attack sounds and older-style knockback can each be enabled or disabled separately in the configuration.
Changing item and entity defaults is possible, but the author notes that the changes may still lead to unexpected behavior and smaller bugs. Datapack creators can supply their own base profiles, and the data directory for profiles lives within the datapack, so different base configurations can be created without editing the mod itself.
The mod is a Fabric mod that runs on the server, and a client can run it as well without needing it. It is released under the Apache License 2.0 and its source code is public. Files target 1.19 – 26.3 across 24 release versions, with 2.2.0+26.3 for 26.3 as the latest Fabric file, published 2026-09-27.

What the author says
Please note that although changing item and entity defaults while in a world is possible and I've tried my best to make it work as seamlessly as possible, it could potentially still lead to unexpected behaviour and (probably smaller) bugs. To configure these options on a server, you can create and save your…
