Players who want a dodge or dash in melee fights can use Combat Roll, which adds a rolling ability to Minecraft through a keybinding and a cooldown.

What it does

The roll moves the player a short distance in the chosen direction. By default the distance is 3 blocks and the cooldown is 4 seconds, and a server can change both. Exhaustion is added to the hunger bar each time a roll is made, and a server can switch that off or adjust it.

Rolls are blocked while the player is using an item, jumping or swimming. The cooldown timer appears on the HUD, and the client can move or hide it. Three entity attributes control the ability: combatroll:distance sets how far the player travels, combatroll:recharge sets how quickly the cooldown refills, and combatroll:count sets how many rolls can be made before a recharge is needed, with one roll as the default.

Combat Roll requires Cloth Config API, Fabric API, Player Animation Library and playerAnimator. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, is open source, and is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 23 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.3.

  5. Exhaustion cost

    Each roll adds exhaustion to the hunger bar, which a server can configure.
