Chat Screen
by whyvo
Chat Screen replaces the chat window with a modern chat screen in Minecraft, opened with the C key by default.
What it does
Chat Screen offers a chat window that matches the look of recent Minecraft versions, and it functions on any client joined to a server, integrated servers included, even while the vanilla social interactions screen is open. Only the client needs it, since the change happens on the player's own side of the connection.
Because some servers use a custom chat format, messages sent to clients can be altered, and plugins such as CMI change the format further. On those servers the chat screen cannot be used normally unless the admin disables the custom format. Servers that disable some commands for sending messages, such as msg and teammsg, also block sending through the chat screen until the admin re-enables them. Chat Screen requires Fabric API on Fabric and is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.10 under the MIT License, which is open source.

What the author says
This mod is client-side only and has no effect on the server-side. When the client connected to a server (including integrated servers, just like the vanilla social interactions screen), you can open the chat screen with C key (defaulted).
