With Chat Patches installed, the chat window holds up to 16,384 messages and keeps its history across every world and server a player visits.

What it does

The mod changes several parts of the chat window on the client. Each message can carry a pink timestamp in hour, minute and second form, with a tooltip that shows the full date. Duplicate messages sent in a row are merged under one counter, and a search bar lets players look through everything received. Chat history and sent messages persist across worlds and servers, and messages can be logged to disk so they can be restored in later sessions.

Player names in chat can be changed to any text, for example without the angled brackets vanilla adds. The chat HUD sits 10 pixels higher so it no longer overlaps the armor bar. Nearly every feature can be switched off in the settings, which are built with Yet Another Config Lib.

Chat Patches is published for Fabric and Quilt. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game. The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and its builds cover 1.18 – 26.3.

Busy multiplayer chat

Players on busy servers can keep a longer log and merge repeated messages under one counter.
