BrightMode
by zachphul
BrightMode lets players raise the screen to maximum brightness with one keypress, so dark caves and nights become readable without torches.
What it does
A single key toggles full brightness on and off. When it is switched on, the gamma is pushed to its maximum at once, and an optional smooth fade can ease the change in instead of an instant jump. The key can be rebound, and the options are reachable through Mod Menu, which the mod requires along with Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) for its configuration screen.
The mod is a client-side utility: only the player's own game needs it, and servers run without it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source in the sense of being listed as such in the catalog. Builds are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, with version 1.0.0 for 1.21.11 as the latest file, first released on 2026-06-15.
Key features
One-key fullbright
A single keypress switches maximum brightness on or off, with the key bound to B by default and changeable in the controls.
Optional smooth fade
A gradual transition can replace the instant change, so the screen brightens over time instead of jumping.
Night vision style view
Caves, the deep dark and the Nether can be seen without torches, as a vanilla-friendly alternative to other brightness methods.
Configuration screen
Settings are exposed through Mod Menu and the YetAnotherConfigLib screen, so the fade and key options can be adjusted in game.
Compatibility

Use cases
Building and placing blocks
Players who keep stopping to place torches in a dark cave or base can toggle brightness and see the area directly.
Exploring dark areas
Deep caves, mineshafts and Nether fortresses stay visible while the player explores without carrying extra light sources.
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want to see dark underground areas and buildings without placing light sources. Servers do not need the mod, so it only affects the local screen of the player who installs it.
