Breathe Underwater

by Sujest

Breathe Underwater lets players breathe under water without a potion effect, so the air supply stops being a limit while exploring the ocean.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT License1.21.1

What it does

A player who goes under water keeps breathing without drinking a potion or holding an item, and the mod shows its own interface for the bubble counter. The bubbles decrease over time as they would in vanilla, and the mod is meant for a slower, more relaxed way to explore the depths of the ocean. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric on 1.21.1 only, under the MIT License; it is not open source. Only the server needs the mod, so players join without installing anything.

Key features

  1. Breathing without potions

Players can stay under water without a potion effect, so no brewing or stock of potions is needed.

  2. Bubble interface

A display shows the remaining air while the player is submerged, and the counter ticks down at the same pace as the vanilla bubbles.

  3. Relaxed ocean exploration

Removing the air limit lets players spend more time exploring the depths of the ocean at their own pace.

How it compares

Full comparison

Waterbound is an open source Fabric mod under the MIT License for 1.21.5 – 1.21.8, and both sides run it. Last Breathes is client-side only, not open source, and covers 1.21 – 1.21.11, so it changes nothing on the server. Breathe Underwater stays on the server alone and targets only 1.21.1.
