Bosses No Knockback
by draemato
Bosses No Knockback stops knockback from moving boss mobs, so a player cannot keep a boss stuck at a distance by repeatedly hitting it.
What it does
Many bosses feel trivial because a player can stunlock them: each hit pushes the boss back, and even a weak weapon such as a wooden sword can keep the boss from ever reaching the player. Some boss mods add their own anti-cheese logic for complex pattern attacks, but older or simpler mods do not, so this mod takes a universal approach instead. It is a NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that runs on the server only, and it is released under the MIT License, which means it is not open source.
The mod checks the contents of the c:bosses tag, so bosses from modern mods that use that tag are covered without extra setup. Vanilla bosses are already included. Some bosses are not tagged properly by their own mod, and in that case the server owner can add the bnk:knockback_immune tag to the entity list. Individual bosses can also be excluded from immunity by adding the bnk:blacklist tag. Because nothing stops any entity from receiving the bnk:knockback_immune tag, a server can make almost any mob immune to knockback.
Bosses No Knockback only needs to be installed on the server. Players who run client-side mods that change knockback may see visual issues, and the author has not yet tested that combination. The mod is published only for 1.21.1 and was first released on 2026-06-04, and the author notes that the name may change in future.
Key features
Knockback immunity for bosses
Boss mobs ignore knockback from attacks, so they stay in reach of melee players.
Universal boss detection
Entities in the c:bosses tag are made immune automatically, which covers modern boss mods without custom setup.
Vanilla boss coverage
Vanilla bosses are included from the start, so no extra configuration is needed for them.
Tag-based control
Servers can add the bnk:knockback_immune tag to extra mobs or the bnk:blacklist tag to exclude specific bosses.
Compatibility

How it compares
Responsive Knockback is a server-side only NeoForge mod under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.4 – 1.21.10, so it covers a wider range of versions than this mod. Boss Checklist DivineRPG Addon is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 that requires the client, with the server optional, and is All rights reserved and not open source. Artifacts and Bosses is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 that must run on both client and server, under All rights reserved. Bosses No Knockback needs only the server and is MIT licensed, but it addresses knockback alone rather than adding bosses.

What the author says
It does what it says - all bosses are made immune to knockback. The reason why many bosses can feel trivial is because of how easy it is to stunlock them. Even the speed of a Wooden Sword is enough to make most bosses stuck at a safe distance from a player, unable to hit them. Of course mods can remedy this by making…
