Better Ping

by UltimateGamerMC

With Better Ping, the tab list shows each player's exact latency in milliseconds, colored by how high it is.

What it does

Better Ping replaces the usual five signal bars in the tab list with the real ping of each player, shown as a number of milliseconds. The number is colored green, yellow or red, so a laggy connection can be spotted at a glance without reading the figure.

The mod runs only on the client, so the server does not need it and vanilla servers, Realms, minigame networks and SMPs all work with it. Installing it on a server is unnecessary and it changes nothing there. It requires Fabric API on the Fabric loader.

Builds cover 1.21.9 – 26.3 and are released under the MIT License, so the code is open source. The latest file is 1.2.0 for 26.3, published on 2026-10-08, and the project has public source code and an issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Exact millisecond ping

Each player's latency is shown as a precise millisecond value in the tab list rather than an estimate.

  2. Color-coded values

Green marks a smooth connection, yellow a middling one and red a laggy one, matching the displayed number.

  3. Minimal footprint

The mod does one thing, replacing signal bars with ping numbers, and adds no other screens or systems.

  4. Works on any server

Because it only changes what the local player sees, it works on any server without server-side setup.
