Better Hitboxes

by Jonnite

Better Hitboxes lets a player configure the collision boxes shown around entities, including eye markers and look vectors, on the Fabric loader.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21 – 1.21.8

What it does

The mod is a hitbox configuration tool for players who want to see or adjust how entity boxes are drawn. Its settings cover entity hitboxes, miscellaneous entities, visibility toggles, look vectors and eye markers, and they are edited through a configuration screen built with YetAnotherConfigLib.

Only the client needs the mod, so servers run without it and players can install it alone. Fabric API, Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are required. Files are published for Fabric across 9 release versions, 1.21 – 1.21.8, and the license is All rights reserved, which means the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Customize hitboxes

Hitbox size and display can be adjusted for entities in the configuration screen.

  2. Miscellaneous entities

A separate option covers entities outside the standard group, so their boxes can be set as well.

  3. Toggle visibility

Boxes can be hidden or shown, letting a player keep only the markers they need on screen.

  4. Look vectors and eye markers

Lines for the direction an entity faces and markers at its eye position can be enabled to inspect aim.

Use cases

Checking aim in combat

A player who fights with ranged weapons can turn on look vectors and eye markers to judge where a shot will land.

Debugging entity collision

Someone building a map or a mob can use visibility toggles to confirm that collision boxes match the model.

Who it’s for: The mod suits players who want to see hitboxes while playing, and creators who check how entities collide. It is a single-player and multiplayer client option, not a server feature.
