Better Fishing
With Better Fishing, a line cast from a rod is simulated in 3D, and each catch turns into a short tension minigame.
What it does
Better Fishing replaces the stiff string of vanilla fishing with a physics-simulated 3D line. The line sags under gravity, bends as it moves and collides with blocks without clipping through them. Caught fish are rendered as physical entities, so they are seen on the hook and reeled in instead of appearing in the inventory.
Each bite opens a HUD in which the player balances line tension against a progress bar to land the fish. If tension goes into the red zone, the line snaps. The mod is paired with the Punchy mod, which adds math-driven procedural rod and arm animations, so the rod bends and the arm tilts back while a fish is fought. Installation needs Fabric, Forge or NeoForge. Files are published for 26.3 with 1.0.1 as the latest build, and 1.21.1 and 26.2 also have files. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
