Better Bamboo Wood changes how bamboo logs, planks and sticks convert in crafting and smelting, so bamboo follows the same ratios as other wood types.
What it does
The mod is a data pack that replaces the default bamboo recipes from version 1.20 onward. A bamboo log crafts 4 planks instead of 2, two bamboo planks craft 2 sticks, and four bamboo planks craft a single plank, which matches how the other wood types behave. Bamboo logs can also be smelted into charcoal. The stated goal is balance: the number of sticks and materials a player gets from bamboo ends up the same as from other woods.
Installation is done inside the world rather than by a loader. Players place the zipped data pack into the datapacks folder of their saves, then restart the world or run the reload command. Because the change is a data pack, it is listed for the Data pack platform rather than a mod loader. Server owners can use it on multiplayer servers as well. Server owners install it, and players can join with or without it.
The release set covers 24 game versions, 1.20 – 26.3, and the latest file is 4+mod for 26.3, published on 2024-10-23. The work is licensed under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
