Beacon Range Extender
by Callisto95
With Beacon Range Extender, a beacon's reach is set by a level-based formula that players can tune in a config file, and blocks used as the base can multiply it.
What it does
Beacon Range Extender is a Fabric mod that extends the range of beacons. Vanilla beacons reach only a small area, and the mod replaces that with a range calculated from the beacon's level, a per-level amount, a multiplier and a base range. The formula is set in the config file beacon-range-extender.json inside the config directory, so server owners can change each value.
The mod is server-side only, so players join a server running it without installing anything, and only the server needs the mod. A beacon's starting reach is set by a base value, and every block material placed beneath it can scale that reach; in the default setup, diamond blocks double the distance while netherite blocks quadruple it. Blocks are given by identifier with a multiplier, and stacked layers multiply the effect, so two layers of a four-times material give sixteen times the base value instead of eight. Fabric API is required and must be installed on the server next to the mod.
Files are released under the MIT License, and the project is open source with public source code and an issue tracker. Builds cover 1.20 – 26.2 across 23 release versions, and the latest Fabric file is 1.5.2-21 for 1.21.11, published on 2026-08-05. The mod was first published on 2024-04-11.
Key features
Level-based beacon range
Range is computed from the beacon level, a per-level value, a range multiplier and a base range.
Material multipliers
Blocks under the beacon can raise the range; diamond and netherite blocks give the default multipliers.
Layered multiplication
Stacked material layers multiply the value, so layered blocks add up in a larger way than a single layer.
Config file settings
Every value sits in beacon-range-extender.json, so the base range, per-level amount and block multipliers can be adjusted.
