BDEngineImport

by Furq

BDEngineImport is a Fabric library that loads BDEngine models into Minecraft, from pre-compiled .mcfunction and .bdi CBOR files.

FabricServer-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.1

What it does

The library reads models made in BDEngine and turns them into displays that can be rendered in the world. Model data reaches the client through packets, which lets complex displays be drawn without sending every element as a separate block update. Import covers pre-compiled .mcfunction files and .bdi files stored as CBOR, so a model built in the editor can be used in a world without rebuilding it by hand.

A developer API exposes an instance of the library that other mods can call from code, so integrations can load and place models programmatically. Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin and HoloDisplays are required, and the library is published for Fabric on 1.21.1 only. It runs on the server side alone, so players join without installing it, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only. Rock depends on it.

Key features

  1. BDEngine model import

Models exported from the BDEngine editor load from .bdi CBOR files into the world.

  2. Pre-compiled function import

Pre-compiled .mcfunction files are read as well, so a model can be placed through a function.

  3. Packet-based rendering

Display data travels in packets, which keeps the rendering of complex models efficient on the server.

  4. Programmatic access

The developer API gives other mods an instance they can use to interact with the library from code.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Mod developers who want to add BDEngine models to a Fabric project, and server owners who run builds made in BDEngine.
