Backported Spears

The mod tries to copy the spears added in the upcoming update as closely as it can, covering the weapons themselves and the technical changes that came with them. Some animations are not yet identical to the official ones, and the author plans to adjust them once the official release arrives. Datapacks that use item components added in 1.21.11 are expected to keep working while the mod is installed.

Spears can be charged with a right-click ability, and a lunge pushes the user forward. Several options are set in a config file: spear charge attacks are on by default, the spear stabbing animation is on by default and switches off when another animation mod is present, and tridents can use the spear stabbing animation, which is off by default. The animation mod can override the spear animation this mod adds.

Several components and enchantment effects are backported as well, including the piercing and kinetic weapon components, the use effects and swing animation components, the attack range and minimum attack charge components, a post piercing attack enchantment component, and the apply impulse and apply exhaustion enchantment effects. A spear mobs advancement criterion is included too. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.10 across 5 release versions.
