Mob AI Tweaks reworks the AI of several mobs, including a set of bosses, and adds boss announcements, health and phase changes to the Wither.

What it does

Bosses and boss-like entities announce their defeat and summoning in chat, in the style of Terraria, and boss health bars appear only once a fight starts. Blue wither skulls gain homing, and bosses regenerate health only after dealing damage or when they have no target.

The Wither is rebuilt as a six-phase boss with 150 health and extra defense, changing its attack pattern at fixed health thresholds. Its laser becomes a continuous beam, and on death it releases a shower of experience. Mob griefing settings control whether some of its attacks leave explosions behind.

The mod is client and server, so both the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with files for 1.19.4 – 26.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and Sinytra Connector is optional on Forge and NeoForge.

  1. Boss announcements

    Bosses announce when they are summoned and when they are defeated, with messages in chat.

  2. Six Wither phases

    The Wither changes attacks at 83, 66, 50, 33 and 17 percent health, ending with chained attacks.

  3. Enrage mechanic

    Losing a quarter of its health in one attack enrages a boss, which then attacks and fires faster.

  4. Configurable health and defense

    The Wither's health and defense can be edited in the mod's config file.
