Auto Eat
by ProjectMichi
Auto Eat is a client-side food mod that eats for the player when hunger drops below a set threshold, choosing from the food in the inventory.
What it does
When the fullness bar falls under a configurable value, the client picks a food item from the inventory and consumes it without any key press. Choice follows a prioritization logic that can rank foods by hidden saturation values, which is the default, or by the hunger points each food restores, or by a combined value of both. Foods that carry debuffs are excluded by the safety filters, so a player is not fed a harmful item by accident.
Installing Auto Eat requires Simple GUI API as a dependency. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 16 release versions, 1.21 – 26.2, and snapshot builds are included. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Automatic eating
Food is consumed on its own whenever fullness drops below the threshold the player sets.
Inventory scanning
The inventory is scanned for edible items, and the top match is swapped into the hotbar for eating.
Configurable food list
Every food the game displays is listed in a searchable menu, where toggles decide which items take part in auto-eating.
Modded food support
Food items added by other mods are picked up automatically and join the same priority rules.

Use cases
Long mining or exploring sessions
A player who stays away from the table for a long time can keep hunger topped up without stopping to eat.
Modded food packs
With large food mods installed, the prioritization rules decide which of the many foods gets eaten first.
Who it’s for: Players who want hunger handled automatically in survival, and players who run modpacks with many food items and want control over which ones are used.
How it compares
AppleSkin is open source under The Unlicense and works on either side, so neither a client nor a server needs it. Always Eat is a client and server mod under the MIT License, for Fabric and NeoForge across 1.21.1 – 26.3, and it is not open source. Auto Eat differs by focusing on automatic consumption rather than display, and by running only on the client.
