Font
by ProjectMichi
Font lets players swap Minecraft's default in-game typeface for a .ttf or .otf file of their choice, applied at runtime from a folder.
What it does
Font-type files placed in the mod's font folder are detected automatically. Players select one in-game from the default font manager, which opens with F7 or from the Mod menu, and a preview shows the result before it is applied. Changing the font takes effect without restarting the game, and disabling custom fonts instantly reverts to the vanilla typeface.
The mod handles size adjustment and a bold toggle for the chosen font. Where a character is missing from the custom file, Minecraft's fallback font fills the gap, so text still renders completely. Font is a client-side tool that changes only how text looks on the player's own screen, so it can be installed without any server involvement. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, needs Simple GUI API, and is published for 1.21 – 26.2 across 16 release versions, with files for 26.2 dated 2026-08-13 and snapshot builds included.
Key features
Custom font replacement
The default Minecraft font can be replaced with any .ttf or .otf file chosen from the font folder.
Runtime font switching
Fonts are applied in-game without a restart, and disabling custom fonts returns the vanilla look at once.
Preview and sizing
Each font can be previewed before it is applied, and its size and bold setting can be adjusted.
Fallback for missing characters
Characters absent from the custom file are drawn with Minecraft's fallback font, so no text goes blank.

Use cases
Readability changes
A player who finds the default typeface hard to read can pick a font with larger letterforms or heavier strokes.
Themed texts
Players building a themed world or a streaming setup can give the interface a particular typeface.
Who it’s for: Players who want a different in-game typeface and are willing to install Simple GUI API alongside the mod. Because it only changes text on the client, server owners do not need to install it.
How it compares
Font is client-side only, licensed under All rights reserved and not open source, and published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. BetterBold is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, but it runs on Fabric alone and covers 1.20.6 – 1.21.11. Damage Numbers is open source under the MIT License and targets Fabric for 1.20.1 – 26.3, with the client required and the server optional.
