Anvil Enchantment Ordering Guide
by armaninyow
Anvil Enchantment Ordering Guide is a Fabric game mechanics mod that plans the order of enchantment merges on the vanilla anvil, and it works on client and server.
What it does
A guide button on the anvil opens an in-game panel that the mod adds. Players choose an item type from a grid, then select exactly the enchantments and levels they want. The panel works in three phases: item selection, enchantment choice and a merge tree that lays out the steps in order. Each step shows which two items combine and what that step costs.
Two optimization modes are available, one that minimizes experience levels and one that minimizes the prior work penalty. A toggle switches between them. Conflicting enchantments such as Sharpness, Smite and Bane are grouped, and the panel cycles through them so a conflicting set is never selected. Inventory items that already match the target type and enchantments are highlighted, and an optional Allow Incompatible Enchantments setting lifts the restriction. Installing Mod Menu allows the settings to be changed.
Key features
Merge tree view
A pannable tree shows the optimal merge order, and hovering a node shows its cost and penalty.
List view
A numbered, scrollable list presents the same merge steps for players who prefer text.
Auto-fill mode
Selecting the maximum applicable level of each enchantment is done automatically, using the highest level found in the inventory.
Inventory scanning
Enchanted books in the inventory are scanned and pre-selected, so the panel starts from what the player already owns.
Modded items and enchantments
The panel can switch between vanilla and modded items, and modded enchantments are grouped with a cycling button.
