Anvil Never Too Expensive
by tinytransfem
Anvil Never Too Expensive removes the level cap that makes anvils refuse repairs, renames and enchantments with the message "Too expensive" once the cost passes 40 levels.
What it does
Anvil operations keep their level cost, but the cap that blocks costs above 40 levels is lifted, so a repair, rename or enchantment goes through whenever the player can pay the levels. The mod is a Forge-era lightweight change that its author says does not conflict with other mods, and it does not add any cheat-like shortcut.
The mod is built for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge and runs in the client and server environment, so servers and players both install it. Files exist for 1.19 – 1.21.11, with the latest Fabric, Forge and NeoForge builds at version 1.2.1 for 1.21.11. The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public. A separate change reworks Mending so that repairing gear still requires resources.
Key features
Cap removed on anvils
Repairing, renaming and enchanting no longer stop at the 40-level "Too expensive" limit.
Costs still apply
Each anvil action still consumes the levels it costs, so the change lifts the cap without making actions free.
Mending reworked
The Mending enchantment is changed to still require spending resources to repair gear.
Light footprint
The author describes the change as small in scope, touching only the anvil cost check.

Use cases
Repairing high-level gear
Players can restore an enchanted tool whose repair cost exceeds the old limit, as long as they hold the levels.
Long-running survival worlds
Heavily enchanted equipment can keep being maintained instead of being discarded when the cost grows.
Who it’s for: Players who enchant and repair gear repeatedly in survival or modded worlds, and server owners who want anvil costs to follow the player's level total rather than a fixed cap.

What the author says
Ever had to let a perfectly enchanted pickaxe break because the game suddenly decided you weren't allowed to use your hard earned levels on repairing it, saying it's "Too expensive!" even though you'd be able to afford it? Well I've been there one too many times and decided to come up with a solution: Anvil Never Too…
