Block Swapper
by tinytransfem
Block Swapper, a tool mod for Forge and NeoForge, lets a player replace a placed block with another block from the off-hand, with the new block keeping the original orientation.
What it does
Swapper tools are added to the game in two tiers, copper and diamond, and each one takes a block item from the off-hand to replace a placed block. The replacement keeps properties such as orientation, which removes the need to break and rebuild a section when the wrong wood or stone was used. Copper and amethyst receive a new use through the recipes.
The mod suits both creative and survival building. Diamond Block Swappers can hold enchantments that the copper tier cannot, including Unbreaking, Mending and a treasure-only enchantment called Excavating that lets the tool clear blocks to air almost instantly. The copper tier stays cheaper to craft, so the two tiers are balanced by cost and ability.
The models and textures are inspired by the tools of Minecraft Dungeons, with a look intended to fit the vanilla style. The config file can blacklist blocks from swapping or excavating, toggle the Excavating enchantment on or off, limit it to treasure, and add it to villager trades. Block Swapper is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Builds exist for 1.19.2 – 1.20.1, and the latest Forge and NeoForge files, 2.0, target 1.20.1.
