AFK Sleep
by clo4
AFK Sleep lets a server skip the night when only the active players are asleep, so idle or AFK players no longer block the skip.
What it does
Sleeping players are counted against the percentage set in the playersSleepingPercentage gamerule, and AFK players are left out of that count. When the active players reach the threshold, the night is skipped. Changes such as players leaving, joining, switching AFK state or changing dimension are picked up as they happen, and the calculation respects the original percentage value.
The mod requires Detect AFK Players, which supplies the AFK state that the sleep calculation depends on. The server is the side that runs the logic and needs AFK Sleep, while players may add it to their client but do not have to. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with 26 release versions covering 1.17 – 1.21.8, and the latest file is 1.3.2+mod for 1.21.8.
Key features
Configurable sleep percentage
The percentage of active players that must sleep is set through the playersSleepingPercentage gamerule, and it can be changed like any other gamerule.
Dimension handling
Sleep is counted per dimension, so a player who is active in the Overworld is the one whose sleep counts there.
Immediate reaction to state changes
Players joining, leaving, going AFK or returning are reflected in the sleep count straight away, so a player who leaves does not keep the skip waiting.
Low command overhead
The logic avoids running commands unless necessary and checks ticks and NBT data only as needed, which keeps the work light on the server.
