Applied Energistics 2

by shartte

Players who build a large storage network use Applied Energistics 2, which stores items in a digital network of connected devices.

What it does

Applied Energistics 2 runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and needs GuideME to start. Client and server both need the mod, so every player on a server that runs it installs it too. Files cover 1.18 – 26.3 across 17 release versions, and the latest NeoForge build is an alpha for 26.3. The mod is published under a custom license and is not open source.

Stored items and blocks are kept as energy inside a network of linked devices, which keeps storage compact and reachable from one place. Patterns and recipes let the system craft items on demand, which handles bulk and multi-step recipes without manual work. Devices on the same network talk to each other, and the channel system caps how many devices a single cable can carry, so the layout needs planning.

Key features

  1. Networked digital storage

Items and blocks are held in a digital network of connected devices and can be reached from a single terminal.

  2. Pattern-based auto-crafting

Players define patterns and recipes that the network crafts when requested, including bulk and complex items.

  3. Channel-limited networks

Each cable carries a set number of channels, so device counts on a network must be planned in advance.

  4. Spatial storage cells

A spatial cell stores a region of the world, including blocks, items and entities, and releases it later.

  5. New materials and decorations

Certus Quartz, Fluix Crystals and Inscribers are added as crafting materials, and several come with decorative blocks.
