Damage Vignette
by ZenXArch
Damage Vignette draws a red screen-edge vignette that tracks the player's health, so the screen shows danger without a text readout.
What it does
The vignette grows stronger as health falls and fades back as it recovers, and it scales continuously with the health value rather than jumping between fixed steps. When health is low, the edge pulses to draw attention. A directional pulse can also flash on the side a hit came from, in the style of zombie games.
Vignette changes apply instantly when alpha shifts, and the look can be tuned through a configurable texture. Server owners can control the player's vignette through a server-side API, so a server can decide how the effect behaves. Other danger sources such as low air can also trigger the vignette, not only health.
Damage Vignette needs Fabric API and runs on Fabric and Quilt. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy. It targets 1.21.1 – 26.1 with snapshot builds published, and the code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, which makes it open source. Public source code and an issue tracker are linked from the project.
Key features
Health-based red vignette
A red edge overlay appears on the screen and strengthens as the player's health drops.
Low-health pulse
At low health the vignette pulses, giving a steady warning that repeats until the player recovers.
Directional hit pulse
A brief pulse can appear on the side a hit came from, similar to zombie-game damage indicators.
Configurable texture and alpha
The vignette texture can be changed, and its alpha updates instantly as danger changes.

What the author says
This mod adds a vignette (similiar to world border) when on low health. Feel free to request / give ideas on discord or codeberg. I am very likely to implement them (if I can).
