Yet Another Thirst
by MinhNH
Yet Another Thirst gives the player a thirst bar that drains with movement, combat and weather, and that affects sprinting, regeneration and health.
What it does
A thirst bar appears above the food bar and drops faster when the player sprints, jumps or fights. Once it runs low, sprinting is blocked and natural health regeneration pauses, so finding water becomes a priority during battles. An empty bar starts a custom dehydration damage that comes with its own death messages.
Players can drink straight from a water block by holding Shift and right-clicking with empty hands, or look up during a rainstorm to slowly refill the bar. Water purity has four levels, and a source one step less pure is listed as slightly dirty. Clay bowls are added as crafting options for early game survival. Client and server both need the mod, and it is released under the MIT License as open source. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, covering 1.20.1, 1.21 and 1.21.1.
Key features
Thirst HUD overlay
A blue droplet bar sits right above the food bar and shows the current hydration level at a glance.
Exertion-based drain
Sprinting, jumping and fighting use up water much faster than standing still, so activity has a cost.
Sprint prevention and halted regeneration
Low thirst stops sprinting and pauses natural healing, which pushes players to find water during fights.
Water purity tiers
Water sources have four purity levels, and each drink from a dirtier source is adjusted by one step.

Use cases
Desert travel
Players crossing hot biomes need to plan water stops, since the bar drains quickly while moving.
Rainy exploration
Looking up during storms gives a way to refill the bar without needing a water source nearby.
Who it’s for: Players who want a survival layer around hydration, and server owners who want water to matter in multiplayer worlds.
