Would
Would adds eleven new tree types to the overworld, several of which replace vanilla trees in specific biomes, and it needs Moonlight Lib to run.
What it does
The mod gives the overworld new trees with their own wood, leaves and saplings, so biomes that once relied on oak, birch, spruce, jungle and acacia gain more varied canopies. Several new trees take over part of the existing generation: Aspen replaces some birch, Pine replaces spruce in pine biomes and some taigas, Maple replaces some birch and oak, Mahogany replaces some jungle trees, and Baobab replaces some savanna acacia. Azalea, Paple, Fir and Blue Spruce add further species, including Ebony and the Fir groves.
Would requires Moonlight Lib, which has to be installed on every loader that Would is used with. The files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the mod runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it. Only the server generates the trees in a world, but players who join need the same files to see them correctly. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the project is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source.
Key features
Eleven new tree species
Azalea, Aspen, Paple, Pine, Fir, Maple, Mahogany, Baobab, Blue Spruce, Ebony and one more tree are added to the overworld.
Biome-specific replacement
Several species take over part of the vanilla generation in matching biomes, such as Pine in pine biomes and Mahogany in jungles.
Distinct wood and leaves
Each new tree has its own wood and leaf textures, so it reads as a separate species and not as a recolored oak.
Placeholder oaks removed
Generic oak trees in swamps, badlands and other biomes are swapped for the new species where the mod applies.
