WindLink
WindLink is a Fabric and NeoForge client mod that adds a terrain-aware wind field which shaders can read and respond to.
What it does
The mod builds one shared wind field that follows the terrain. Wind slows behind hills, speeds up over crests and funnels down through valleys. Gusts arrive and fade in a natural pattern instead of holding a constant breeze, and the wind character can be set toward a natural, calm, storm or cinematic feel through presets and separate dials for turbulence, swirl, wave and size.
Blown debris such as leaves, grass flecks and other particles rides the wind and deflects off walls. Trees move as one canopy that sways together, and buildings interact with the wind in real time. Because every system reads the same field, the scene breathes as a single unit rather than as separate effects. Shader packs must be installed for the visible effects, and without one the mod has nothing to display. Compatible Shaders is named as working alongside it, and mods that use the wind field can share it instead of running their own.
Installation needs PlunderEngine, which the mod depends on. WindLink runs on the client only, so servers can stay vanilla and need nothing installed. Files cover 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, with the latest build for 26.2 published on 2026-09-30. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Terrain-aware wind
A single wind field responds to hills, valleys and ridges, so gusts bend around the land they meet.
Natural gusts
Gusts come and go in a varied pattern rather than as one constant breeze across the whole scene.
Wind presets and dials
Calm, storm, natural and cinematic presets are available, and turbulence, swirl, wave and size can be set separately.
Debris and foliage
Leaves, grass flecks and other debris ride the wind and deflect off walls, while trees sway together as one canopy.
Shared wind for shaders
Shaders and other mods read the same wind field, so two sources never disagree about direction.

What the author says
A real, shared wind that everything breathes. Client-side only. Safe on vanilla servers. Works with no shader pack installed, but doesn't live up to anything without one. Depends on PlunderEngine.
