PlunderEngine

by PlunderPixels

PlunderEngine is a data bus library that gathers live world information for shaderpacks and the Link mods built on it.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 26.2

What it does

Shaderpacks can read world data such as wind gusts, terrain flow, the in-game clock, canopy size, ground height sparsity, block light color and solid block volume, and PlunderEngine supplies those values. Link mods plug into PlunderEngine as a single shared contact point, so a shader author does not have to write separate integrations for each one. Whichever Links are installed decide which channel carries the data, and channels for Links that are absent are reported as absent.

PlunderEngine is required by WindLink, which is the first mod within the family, and it is needed on Fabric and NeoForge. Its settings appear under Iris, where a consolidated settings screen lists the Link mod options. A live status readout reports the current state of each Link mod surfacing shader data, and a debug tool helps shader developers find out when a mod's shader is broken. The mod works with broad mod compatibility, and the author notes that more Links are under development.

The library runs on the client only and is built for Fabric with Fabric API. Files are published for 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Shared data bus

PlunderEngine unifies data from Link mods behind one interface, so shaders read the same channels regardless of which mods supply them.

  2. World terrain data

Live world terrain data is published through MCWIND channels, covering wind gusts, terrain flow, canopy size and solid block volume.

  3. Single marker file

A shaderpack adopts the integration with one marker file, so changes to the tree integration are not needed for each update.

  4. Live status readout

A status screen shows the current state of each Link mod, including which data channels are active and which are absent.

  5. Iris settings tab

Settings from Link mods appear under the Iris settings tab in one consolidated place.

  6. Debug tool for shaders

A debug tool lets shader developers see when a Link mod's shader data is broken or not arriving.

Questions

Does WindLink need PlunderEngine installed?

Yes. WindLink requires PlunderEngine, which supplies the shared data bus that WindLink publishes its data through.

Which loaders does PlunderEngine support?

PlunderEngine is published for Fabric and NeoForge. The latest Fabric file is 0.1.21+mc26.2 for 26.2, and the latest NeoForge file is 0.1.21+mc26.2-neoforge for 26.2, both dated 2026-09-30.

Does PlunderEngine change the game on a server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.
