Falling Wind
by Lythroo
Falling Wind plays wind sounds while the player drops, and the sound grows louder the faster the fall goes on.
What it does
Falling Wind layers wind sounds over the vanilla elytra sound, so a long drop from height gets an audible rush. The volume follows how fast the player is falling, so a short hop stays quiet while a steep plunge builds. Only the client needs it, and the mod runs with Fabric API on Fabric or on NeoForge.
The sound changes come from the vanilla elytra effect, so the audio fits the existing game rather than replacing it. Settings are changed through Mod Menu, which is useful for players who want the wind quieter or louder. The server can run the mod as well, but players do not need anything extra on the server side for the sound to play.
Files are published for 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, with 1.0.3+26.3 as the latest build for both loaders, dated 2026-09-18. The project is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.

Use cases
Elytra flights
Players gliding with elytra hear the wind build as they dive, which matches the feel of a steep descent.
Cliff and tower drops
Falling from tall terrain or structures produces a clearer sense of height through the rising wind audio.
Who it’s for: Players who want a more immersive falling sound in Minecraft, and players who run a modded world with Fabric API or NeoForge and want the wind effect in their sound mix.
