Wild Magix

by snakefangox

Wild Magix is a Fabric magic mod that adds ancient tomes, dungeon spellbooks and codices which produce spells, some of them dangerous to nearby players and objects.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.20.4

What it does

Two kinds of spellbooks appear as dungeon loot, and the ancient codex it adds contains a randomly generated spell each time it is used. Some spells bring creatures into being, strike with lightning, launch targets into the air, or detonate suddenly overhead or directly ahead of the caster. Each spell behaves differently, so two spells that both blow things up may do so in different places, and another may summon a llama that then explodes behind the player.

Neo Codices produce the same effects as ancient codices, but the spell they yield is the one the player has programmed, using a simple Lisp language. Because the results are hard to predict, the mod's own advice is to test a given spell far away from anything the player cares about. A list of options is available to cast help for the spell system.

Wild Magix is published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.20.4, with version 2.1 as the latest file dated 2024-02-10. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The code is under the MIT License, and the mod is not open source. It was first published on 2023-12-31 and has no required dependencies listed.

What the author says

Adds two kinds of spellbooks, which can be found as dungeon loot. Each spell operates differently. Even if two spells both blow things up one might explode where you're looking, while another summons a llama behind you and then blows it up. The only way to identify how a given spell works is to test it, I'd recommend…
