Village Diplomacy
by Cesoti
Village Diplomacy gives each village a reputation system in which villagers have their own names, personalities and relationships with the player.
What it does
Every village tracks the player's standing across seven reputation ranks, from HERO to VILLAIN. Trading with villagers and doing good deeds raise standing, while harming them lowers it. Rank changes are announced with particle effects, and the iron golems that guard a village remember past actions and turn hostile after repeated harm.
Every villager gets its own name and personality, assembled from traits like Friendly, Greedy, Gossip and Outgoing. These traits shape more than 250 contextual messages that react to the player's reputation. Placing blocks near a village triggers special interactions of its own.
Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, all for 1.20.1, under All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.
Key features
Seven reputation ranks
Standing moves through seven ranks from HERO to VILLAIN, and each change is marked with a notification and particle effects.
Villagers with personalities
Each villager receives a unique name and a set of behavioral traits that affect how it talks and reacts to the player.
Actions affect standing
Trading and good deeds build reputation, while harming villagers or golems lowers it, so the player's record follows their choices.
Golems that remember
Iron golems keep track of the player's actions and become hostile when the player repeatedly harms the village.
Contextual messages
More than 250 messages change with the player's reputation, so the same villager can speak differently over time.
