VideoPlayer
by squi2rel
VideoPlayer lets a Minecraft world show video through the MPV or VLC libraries, with screens and areas placed by vlc commands.
What it does
Video playback is driven by vlc commands in chat. An area is defined by two corner coordinates, and a screen by four corner points, so a video can be shown on a flat surface inside the world. Commands also list the current queue, skip ahead by seconds or by percentage, remove an area or screen, and change screen metadata such as radius, skybox and position.
Screen metadata covers more than placement. A skybox option sets the screen to a skybox, and a 3d option turns on side-by-side playback. With Vivecraft installed, 3D video can be played, and a VR180 mode handles that format. The mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge across five game versions, 1.20.1 – 26.2, and requires client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source.
The author warns that the original repository has been lost, and that files should be taken only from trusted sources because of malicious software.

Use cases
Video in a shared server space

Who it’s for: Map makers and server owners who want video inside a Minecraft world, and players who want to try VR180 or 3D playback with Vivecraft.
How it compares
Lumière Play is a Fabric-only mod for 1.21.1 under the Apache License 2.0, open source, and it also needs client and server. System Music Notification Toast is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.21.11 – 26.2 on Fabric and NeoForge, so only the client needs it. Renderra runs on Fabric for 1.21.5 – 26.2 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, where either side can run it.
