System Music Notification Toast
by edubr029
System Music Notification Toast shows a toast in the corner of the screen whenever a new track starts playing on the system.
What it does
Each time a new track begins in a supported media player, a notification toast appears using the vanilla Minecraft toast style. The mod reads the current track through the operating system's media controls, so it works with Spotify, Windows Media Player, browser media in Edge or Chrome, foobar2000, and any app that uses SMTC. On Linux it works with MPRIS-compatible players such as Spotify, VLC, Firefox and Chromium.
A key binding under Options, Controls, Key Binds, in the System Music category, shows the current track on demand. Fabric API is required, and the mod is installed by placing the file in the mods folder of a Fabric or NeoForge client. It runs on the client only, so servers do not need it. Files exist for 1.21.11 and 26.1 – 26.2, with 1.4.2+26.2 as the latest build, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Track start toasts
A toast appears automatically when a new track starts, showing the title and artist of the song.
Manual track display
A key binding shows the current track at any time, without waiting for the next song to begin.
Vanilla toast style
Notifications reuse the look of Minecraft's own toasts, so they blend with the rest of the interface.
Cross-platform support
Media detection covers Windows, Linux and macOS, using each system's media controls.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who listen to music on their computer while playing Minecraft on Fabric or NeoForge, and who want track information shown in the game. Linux users with Flatpak launchers may need to grant the launcher access to the MPRIS interface through Flatseal before the mod can read track data.
How it compares
Toastify is a client and server mod for Fabric and NeoForge, released under the MIT License but not open source, with files for 1.21.8 – 1.21.11. Now Playing IRL is a client-side only mod for Fabric alone, covering 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, under a Creative Commons license that is not open source. Let Them Talk is also client-side only, but it targets Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1 – 26.3 under a no-derivatives license, so it cannot be modified and redistributed.
