Vanilla Tooltips
by WhiterGG
Vanilla Tooltips restyles the item tooltips in Minecraft while keeping the vanilla look, and it is a client-side cosmetic mod that changes no gameplay data.
What it does
The mod changes how item tooltips are drawn. Rarity labels appear on items, and tooltip outlines take on the color of an item's rarity. Framed previews animate smoothly when an item is shown, so the change stays in the same visual language as the rest of the interface.
Armor pieces get a dedicated 3D preview with animated rotation. The armor-stand visibility, rotation speed and direction can be set in the configuration. Each major visual feature can be turned on or off separately, so a player can keep only the parts that suit them.
Vanilla Tooltips runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it needs no server side because it is client-side only. Fabric builds need Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), while Forge and NeoForge builds need YACL. Installing Mod Menu on Fabric is optional, and once it is present the in-game configuration screen can be opened from it; Forge and NeoForge players instead reach that screen from their installed mods list. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Its files cover 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.11.
Key features
Item rarity labels
Each item shows a label that names its rarity, making the tier visible at a glance.
Rarity-colored outlines
Tooltip borders take on the color of the item's rarity, so tiers are distinguished without reading the text.
Framed item previews
Items appear in a framed preview with smooth animation as the tooltip opens.
Dedicated 3D armor previews
Armor is shown as a rotating 3D model, with visibility, speed and direction set in the configuration.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want a restyled tooltip look and pack makers who want to tune item presentation. Because it only changes appearance, servers can run without it.
