Trims - Color Splash! adds 29 new armor trim materials that can be applied at the armor smithing table, and players can clear a trim visually when they prefer the plain armor.

What it does

The materials are drawn from items and blocks already in the game, such as Armadillo Scute, Rose Gold, Honey Block, Magma Block, Resin Brick and Breeze Rod, along with ores, gems, drops and mob items like Nautilus Shell, Nether Star and Phantom Membrane. Each one gives a different color to the trim pattern, so armor sets can be matched or contrasted with the trim on the armor smithing table.

The mod takes its general approach from an earlier trim color project, and its feature list covers armor and tool trim use. Optional dependencies include Elytra Trims, More Armor Trims, Tool Trims Mod and Trimmable Tools, which the author lists for their own trim support. Trims - Color Splash! is server required and client optional, so a server running it needs the mod, while players may leave it out.

Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Fabric, Forge and Quilt builds target 26.2, and the NeoForge file targets 1.21.1. Across the game versions with files, builds cover 1.20 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are also published. The mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license and is not open source. Source code and an issue tracker are public.

Materials include Armadillo Scute, Blaze Rod, Crying Obsidian, Dragon Breath, Echo Shard and Ender Pearl, among others.

Materials such as Rose Gold, Honey Block and Magma Block are available as trims alongside items from the base game.
Visual trim removal
Trims can be cleared visually, so armor can return to its plain look without losing the material.
Data pack version
A data pack build is available, and recipes work correctly after the world or server restarts.
