Travelers Lib
by Collinvh
Travelers Lib gives other mods a shared base for registering animals, with an attribute system, pathfinding helpers and a registry helper.
What it does
The library supplies the code that animal mods build on: a generic animal framework, a registry helper for adding new creatures, and an animal attribute system that defines how each one behaves. Mods that use it can add their own animals and reuse the same tools instead of writing them from scratch.
Travelers Lib needs AzureLib, which must be installed alongside it on every loader. Mod Menu is optional and only adds its settings screen. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 26.2, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Jurassic Saga and Lost In Time require it. The code is not open source and is covered by All rights reserved, though the source is public.
Key features
Animal attribute system
A shared system assigns attributes to registered animals, so mods can define stats without custom code for each creature.
Registry helper
Helper methods simplify registering new animal types and their entries into the game registries.
Async pathfinding tools
Improved asynchronous pathfinding utilities are available to mods that move animals across the world.
Generic animal framework
A general base class and utilities cover common animal behavior, so dependent mods share one implementation.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Requirements
Dependencies declared by the latest file for each loader.
Required by 2 mods
Use cases
Animal add-on packs
Authors of new animal mods can register creatures and their attributes through the library rather than building the plumbing themselves.
Jurassic Saga
Jurassic Saga depends on Travelers Lib for its animal framework, so it must be installed with the library.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who build animal content for Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and players who install animal packs that require the library, such as Jurassic Saga or Lost In Time.
How it compares
Travelers Lib is client and server and uses All rights reserved, while Salt's Animal Farm is also client and server but open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Animals Run From You is a server-side only option for Fabric alone, 1.20.1, under the MIT License, with no shared framework for other mods.
