With toNeko installed, a player can take on the form of a neko, a catgirl-style creature found in the world.

What it does

The mod adds nekos as mobs with owners, interaction menus, skins and several variants that spawn in different biomes. A player can become an owner of a neko that is already a neko, and a neko can have more than one owner. Shift and right-click opens the interaction menu, which works within 16 blocks.

Other systems include a genetics model with heritable genes and a Gene Editor tool, an AI chat feature that lets neko characters talk with players through several AI providers with optional text to speech, a quirk system, catnip farming and a Mouflet boss that steals items. Geckolib and playerAnimator are required. The server and every player need the mod installed. Files are published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code is open source.

  1. Heritable genes

    Nekos carry genes that follow Mendelian inheritance, and the Gene Editor tool changes them.

  2. AI chat characters

    Neko characters can chat with players through several AI providers, with optional voice output.

  3. Owner interaction menu

    Shift and right-click opens a menu whose buttons depend on the neko, and they stop working beyond 16 blocks.

  4. Biome variants and skins

    Variants such as Adventurer Neko and Ghost Neko spawn in different biomes, and each neko gets a skin that resource packs can extend.
