Tiered Backpacks
by pajic
Tiered Backpacks gives players wearable storage in six tiers, from a leather backpack up to a netherite one, and the sizes can be changed in the config.
What it does
Each tier is a separate backpack with its own slot grid, and the grids grow from the leather tier to the netherite tier. Backpack sizes can be set up to 16x16 slots in the configuration, and the defaults work without any changes. Upgrading a backpack to the next tier keeps its contents and its color, so items do not have to be moved by hand.
Every tier except netherite can be dyed, in the same way as other leather equipment. Configuration covers the ways a backpack is equipped and opened, along with other rules, so server owners can decide how the storage behaves. The mod also adds a tooltip that previews the contents of a backpack and a quick-swap option for moving items between a backpack and the player's inventory.
The mod is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.21.10 – 26.3. Fabric API and Fzzy Config are required, and the 26.3 Fabric file is the latest one.
Key features
Six backpack tiers
Leather, copper, iron, golden, diamond and netherite backpacks each have their own slot grid, and each tier is a step up from the last.
Configurable sizes
The slot grid of each backpack can be set up to 16x16 in the config, and the defaults are usable without changes.
Dyeable backpacks
Backpacks other than netherite can be dyed like other leather equipment, and the color stays when the backpack is upgraded.
Contents preview
The tooltip shows what a backpack holds, so the contents can be checked without opening it.
Quick swap
Items can be moved between a backpack and the inventory with a quick-swap action, saving time when sorting.
