Thething(origin) is a Forge game mechanics mod that turns players into an alien parasite when they die and lets them play the Thing from the 'From Another World' setting.
What it does
Players who die become infected, and the infection spreads slowly. The true form grants strength, permanent regeneration and high damage resistance, and it can be toggled between the disguised and true forms. A config option switches the Thing behaviour on or off. Thething requires From Another World and Origins on Forge, and it is published only for 1.20.6 under All rights reserved.
Key features
Infection on death
A player who dies gets infected by the parasite, with a slow assimilation effect that spreads to nearby targets.
True form and disguise
The true form gives strength, regeneration and damage resistance, while a key switches between the true form and a disguised one.
Revival and detection
After death the parasite's head can survive for 90 seconds and revive the body, and a reveal key helps players tell disguised targets apart.
