Thermite

by Sparkierkan7

Thermite adds a body temperature system to Fabric, so a player's warmth depends on biome, time of day, weather and nearby blocks.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

A player who gets too cold or too hot starts taking damage, and the mod offers ways to keep the temperature near neutral. The base value comes from each biome's vanilla temperature, so modded biomes are affected as long as their temperature is set. Rain, snow, nighttime and entering water all cool the player down, while a fire protection enchantment lowers heat by 0.5 per level and fire resistance blocks heat damage entirely.

Leather armor can be combined with wool cloth in a crafting table to add warmth, up to twice per armor piece. Ice juice, a frozen item that acts like packed ice and cools the player by 3 when nearby, slowly melts in warm biomes. Fireplaces can carry their smoke above brick, cobblestone or stone brick walls like a chimney. A thermometer held in the offhand opens a display with the exact temperature, which is a unitless value where 50 is the most neutral.

Thermite requires CompleteConfig and Fabric API, and Roughly Enough Items adds recipe lookup for ice juice. It is a client and server mod, so the server and every player need it. The mod targets Minecraft 1.20.1 only, with the latest Fabric file, 5.0.0, dated 2024-02-24, and is released under the MIT License as open source. It is compatible with Fabric Seasons, so the current season also affects temperature.

Key features

  1. Biome-based temperature

The temperature of each biome feeds into the player's body temperature, along with time of day and weather.

  2. Armor warmth upgrades

Leather armor combined with wool cloth in a crafting table adds warmth, limited to two upgrades per piece.

  3. Ice juice

A frozen item that cools the player when nearby and melts over time, faster in hotter biomes.

  4. Thermometer display

Holding a thermometer in the offhand shows the exact temperature on the left side of the screen.

Is there a version gap for Thermite?

The mod is published only for 1.20.1, so other Minecraft versions have no Thermite files.

What the author says

This is a fabric mod that adds a body temperature system based on what biome you are in, the time of day, weather conditions and what blocks are around you. If you get too cold or hot you will start to take damage, but there are ways to maintain a good temperature. In vanilla minecraft, biomes have there own built in…
