Subtitle Tweaks

by Microcontrollers

Subtitle Tweaks, a client-side Utility mod, lets players adjust where and how the on-screen subtitles appear, from the accessibility menu.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.8

What it does

The mod gives subtitles a simple customization overlay that can be opened from the accessibility menu. Players set a background color behind the subtitle text and move the block with horizontal and vertical offset sliders, so the text can be placed clear of the HUD or of other elements on screen. When a current cause shifts the subtitle position, the offset sliders can be used to readjust it.

Subtitle Tweaks runs on Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.8 only, with the latest files, 1.1.0, dated 2025-07-03. Only the client needs it, and the mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so the project is open source. It requires Fabric API, Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) to run.

Key features

  1. Subtitle overlay

A customization overlay for subtitles, opened from the accessibility menu, with no separate config file to edit.

  2. Background color

A color can be chosen for the box behind subtitle text, so lines stay readable over bright scenes.

  3. Horizontal and vertical offset

Sliders move the subtitle block left, right, up or down, keeping it clear of other on-screen elements.

  4. Readjust after position shifts

When a current cause shifts the subtitle position, the offset sliders bring the text back to the chosen spot.
