QuickQuit

by Microcontrollers

QuickQuit lets players close Minecraft while the Forge resource loading screen is still running at startup.

What it does

During launch, Forge shows a resource loading screen before the main menu appears. Without this mod, the window ignores close requests until that stage finishes. QuickQuit allows the window to be closed during this screen, so a launch can be abandoned without waiting.

The mod uses the same approach that newer Forge releases apply to newer Minecraft versions, adapted to 1.8.9 with Mixins. It is installed on the client only, and it has no effect once the game is running. Files are published for Forge for 1.8.9, with 1.0.1 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Closing during startup

The window can be closed while the Forge resource loading screen is shown, without waiting for loading to end.

  2. Adapted from newer Forge

The close behavior from newer Forge releases is reimplemented for the older client with Mixins.

  3. Quick abandon of launch

A stalled or unwanted launch can be stopped at once instead of being left to finish loading.

Compatibility

Questions

Does QuickQuit need to be installed on a server?

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.

Which Minecraft version does QuickQuit support?

The mod is published only for 1.8.9, and the latest Forge file is 1.0.1 for that version.
