Ksyxis
by VidTu
Ksyxis is an optimization mod that removes chunks the game would otherwise load when a world is created or kept loaded in the background.
What it does
Minecraft loads some chunks at world creation, and in certain cases keeps them loaded while the player is elsewhere. The author describes these loads as either a one-time slowdown or a constant performance cost. Ksyxis disables the chunks that most players do not need, so the game has less to load and keep active. Server owners and single-player players gain the most from it, particularly on low-end hardware.
Because the mod turns off chunk loading, farms and technical contraptions that depend on those chunks can stop working. The author notes that removing the mod again restores the chunks. Ksyxis is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public source code, an issue tracker and a wiki.
Only the server needs it, and players join without installing anything. A server needs the mod; players joining a multiplayer server do not install it, and it has no effect on their client. In single-player the mod runs on the local game. The mod is published for several loaders, with game versions 1.8 – 26.3 and snapshot builds available.
Key features
Disabled unneeded chunks
Chunks that the game loads at world creation or keeps active in the background are turned off.
Reduced load on low-end devices
Fewer chunks to load lessens the work on machines with limited processing power.
Single file for every loader
One file covers all supported loaders, so no separate builds need to be chosen.
Removable at any time
Deleting the mod re-enables the chunks, which suits worlds that later need farms or contraptions.

Use cases
Low-end machines
A player on an older computer can reduce the chunk work the game performs during world loading.
Server owners
A server that does not need the extra chunks can run the mod to reduce the background load.
Who it’s for: Players on low-end hardware and server owners who do not depend on farms or contraptions that rely on the disabled chunks.

What the author says
Speed up your world loading by removing unneeded chunks. Depending on your game version, Minecraft loads some chunks when you create your world. Sometimes, these chunks are always loaded in the background. Either way, whether these chunks being loaded is a one-time performance slowdown, or a constant performance…
